Number of revs: The shaft speed can be adjusted in the range from 0 to 5000 rpm. In combination with the shaft diameter of 20 mm a speed up to 5 m/s can be obtained. Bearing load: The load is subjected to the aluminum bearing house by dead weight. To increase the load in time it is possible to use a pneumatic cylinder. The load can be varied between 10 N en 10 kN. Bearing temperature: The bearing temperature is measured by means of a thermocouple in contact with the bearing bushing.
Friction: Equilibrium exists between the friction force and the weight subjected to a crank. The move of the crank, measured by two tasters is a value for the friction. The coefficient of friction is related by µ=Fw/F=sinø·L/R.
